COVID-19 is spreading within the Black and Brown communities at a much higher rate than other neighborhoods. What is the reason for this? How come people in these inner city areas are seeing higher rates of the disease, when the disease itself doesn't choose skin color?
The Mayo Clinic is working with churches in the Jacksonville, Florida area to help combat this issue. According to sources there, there are several factors that play a role in the spread of COVID-19 and why numbers are on the rise in these areas. By working together the medical community and the faith community believe they can bring this trajectory down.
Listen to Dr. Ivan Porter, a clinician researcher with the Mayo Clinic and Reverend Dr. David Green Sr. of St. Stephen African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church of Jacksonville, Florida as they discuss the process they are taking and how other communities can do the same.
